For Fluk Sakes - Where Did Oilers Go?

http://crashthenet.ca/community/index.php?app=blog&blogid=11&showentry=16

Not that I am a fan of the mystical team that is the Edmonton Oilers but it is my hometown so i have to be a little concerned to the fact that they haven't done a damned thing. The Mc-T firing made me jump up and down for quite a while but it's been eerily quiet. Calgary, while making little moves has made a lot of noise... and thus scaring me into thinking that again, this year shall be no different, Calgary > Edmonton... Again

Woo?

My question is... where did the Oilers go...

If I am not mistaken they are an NHL team and they will participate in Free Agency maybe they will make an awesome deal, but until then I am not sad nor mad nor happy that they are dead so far in the offseason.

One more thing

Stupid Oilers. -_-

I get up every day and come in this stupid office, I do accounting work, than after work i have to chase peeople down for money they owe me for renting stupid ghetto houses in the city. I have no car at the moment so I have to mooch off my fiance.

I love golf but i just flat out suck at it, and I tend to let people score with under 5 seconds in the period. That really annoys me. I should have a winning record in the PS3, but i'm two games under .500. If i miss the play offs, my PS3 is going through my Sony Bravia. SYKE!

Now after reading me %$?$#% and complain do I feel I deserve some Symphathy. Nah, prolly not. I just need to vent, and I come to this site every day, just to check up on our league. It's a cool league.

I'm looking forward to the new Green Day CD, but i have an odd feeling it's going to suck. Those guys used to be so damn cool, and now they just write medicore bullshit pop. Even there last record people made a huge deal about, and it my eyes it was just ok......

The Flyers are a bunch of clowns, they have so much talent but can't seem to beat the Pens ever!!! And now hopes of a cup down Broad Street is over....Poor Richie and Jeff. Those guys had killer seasons.

Anyway, I think i'm done with my rant........you can comment if you please, or just let me blog sit in the lonely blog-o-sophere of what is el Crashthenet.ca

-Rosetti

Day One Gone and Went

Well, as most of you know now, the first day is all over with. Games were just flying yesterday and we started pretty rough overall as this team lost it's first 3 games only scoring in one of them. However, when players started learning how the others played, it jelled a little more and this team took off. There are some great players on this team and there will loads of wins to follow that up as well, however, there are some things that people are having a hard time with.

Offsides are a downer to the game and slows the momentum so bad. Everyone up the ice is thinking the same thing, I am sure, that they are the lead guy so they should carry the puck. This should be cleared from your mind. Pay attention to the players that you are playing with. If you have a power forward on right wing and a grinder on left wing with a playmaking center, the center will be carrying the puck and you need to wait. This is something that is very annoying when trying to get a flow for the game.

You just flat out don't have to shoot and deke every time you have the puck. There are a couple of games that I played where someone would try and take on the whole team and deke after deke and lose the puck.

Anyways, we now sit ranked 92nd and our record is 21-14-0, so not too bad at all.

Kyle Ollestad is leading the team in scoring with 17 pts in 9 games and I am currently the leading goal scorer with 7.

Here are the stats so far...

PLAYER GP	G A	PTS +/- PIM HITS ID
Ollestad, Kyle 9 7 10 17 3 0 68 kyleoll
McGregor, Jim 8 7 4	11 -1 6 51	tcblcommish
Ladouceur, Brent 10 5 3 8 4 10 53	sonicky
Pampalon, Thomas 6 1 5 6 -1 8 71 atomas
Hamill, Brandon 4 3 3 6 0 2 36 feel_it
Landry, Dany 6 3 3 6 1 20 58 landthamanQC
Wolfe, Luke 7 4 2 6 -8 6 137 lucwolfe
Johns, Matt 7 2 3 5 -1 10 65 mattyjfrmpburgh
Perron, Sylvain 3 2 3 5 4 0 13 syperron
Tapp, Richie 8 2 3 5 3 12 85 tapper99
Sansam, Scott 5 3 1 4 -1 13 63 blindbullet
Laxer, Matthew 3 2 1 3 0 10 41 laxlyfe11
LeClair, Shannon 2 2 1 3 -3 0 25 shannyboy
Liddle, Ethan 1 0 2 2 1 2 10 lord_of_war
Macedon, Chris 2 2 0 2 2 6 14 stogeydawg
Rolston, Matt 1 0 1 1 -1 2 10 madmatt101
Fontaine, Martin 3 1 0 1 -7 12 41 fiftypoker
Mishler, Brian 1 0 0 0 -2 7 15 brian08
Pampalon, Dominic 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 iq-000
Thompson, Michael 4 0 0 0 -4 6 37 tea_bag_frenzy

Great job so far... I will try to update the stats as much as I can but, sadly, the goalies stats are crappy. They just don't keep enough. There are all sorts of players that are here, 28 by last count. A pretty good mix of styles and some international flair. There is a desperate need for goaltending on this team although I have confidence in our current net minder, Dominic Pampalon.

I think that overall, this team will do very well. I have chatted with a couple of the players on the team so far and they all seem to be hockey oriented minds and people that know what they will be doing which could prove to be a force to be reckoned with. Forwards are pretty set right now with eight centers, eight left wingers and six right wingers, all with a decent mix of styles.

Defense is a little bit full of offensive defense man but this could make for an Edmonton Oilers style offense. There are seven guys on the point, however, only one defensive one. That could be a concern. Overall, I think that the defensive corps should be very solid as long as some of the guys learn to stay back sometimes.

Well, it's only 5 more says until release and games will comence after that so I'll be looking to see everyone on the ice.

Good luck to everyone, and may your shots, always, be on target!

Jim

I’ve realized that as you get older you learn more about yourself. Had you told me five years ago that I’d be a hot head who loves to write; I would have denied it completely. Yet that is what I am today. I am also as easy to read as a book, so to say, and my happiness, displeasure and disappointment all show on my face. I can’t hide much. When I am particularly angry, every one knows about it. It usually takes me a little while to cool down, and then I feel better after explaining myself in a rational manner.

So I’m at work right now, and if I weren’t enclosed in a tiny cubicle everyone would see me yawning every five minutes and stretching out... my workload can be so dull. You can probably see it on my face. It’s hard to choose a job that will suit you for the rest of your career life. I think I know what I want to be now, but how long will it last? Being a Translator can be very interesting, as I’ll get to see a multitude of documents before they are even published. Being an Editor, what I aspire to be in the long run, would be simply fascinating. I love pinpointing mistakes and hate to see them at the same time. Which is probably why I get happy when I fix them. I’m a perfectionist and details have to be just right.

I think I’m slowly discovering my passions as I discover myself and it’s amazing to feel the evolution. I hope everyone gets this phase in life because I find it very revealing. The last few years have been really confusing to me. This will sound extremely cheesy, but I think having Luc in my life has helped me become who I am today and has pushed me to find what are the things that I’m passionate about. He has also helped me refine my values. I think that’s what you’re supposed to look for, when searching for significant other. Someone who helps you discover who you want to be. If I hadn’t of met him, I’d probably still be in my bedroom, graduated from college, working 15 hours a week at the Dollarstore instead of full time at the Government of Canada, playing The Sims 2 during all of my free time, and my self-esteem and self-confidence would be as low.

It was time for a change. Even though I like who I am now, I’m always trying to improve myself and become a better person. Be less selfish and accept point of views that completely oppose mine, without necessarily agreeing with them.

Now back to being bored at work... *sigh*

Jenny

Hello and welcome to Oiler35's Trade Blog

I will have to aprove all posts in the blog

Now lets see the UFAS by team
Easteren Conference

Atlantic Division
New Jesey Devils Unrestricted Free Agents: C Scott Gomez, D Brian Rafalski, RW Alexander Mogilny, D Dan McGillis, D Brad Lukowich, LW Jason Wiemer, LW Grant Marshall, D Jim Fahey, C Jim Dowd, RW Erik Rasmussen, G Scott Clemmensen, LW Dan LaCouture.

Re-Signings: D Andy Greene, F Mike Rupp (2-years, $1-million)

Notable Additions:

Notable Subtractions:

Off-Season Game Plan: A second-round playoff defeat might be considered acceptable in some parts, but not with the New Jersey Devils.

Pittsburgh Penguins Unrestricted Free Agents: RW Michel Ouellet, G Jocelyn Thibault, LW Nils Ekman, D Josef Melichar, D Eric Cairns, D Robert Scuderi, LW Ronald Petrovicky, D Alain Nasreddine, D Wade Brookbank.

Re-Signings: LW Gary Roberts (one-year, $2.5 million), RW Mark Recchi (one-year $2 million)

Notable Additions:

Notable Subtractions: Chris Thorburn (Thrashers).

Off-Season Game Plan: A tremendous turnaround in 2006-2007 kept the Penguins in Pittsburgh and vaulted them into the playoffs.

New York Rangers Unrestricted Free Agents: LW Brendan Shanahan, C Michael Nylander, D Sandis Ozolinsh, G Kevin Weekes, D Karel Rachunek, LW Brad Isbister, RW Jed Ortmeyer, D Martin Richter.

Re-Signings:

Notable Additions:

Notable Subtractions:

Off-Season Game Plan: A decent season followed by a couple rounds in the playoffs had to be considered a success for the New York Rangers.

New York Islanders Unrestricted Free Agents: C Alexei Yashin (bought-out), LW Ryan Smyth, LW Richard Zednik, D Tom Poti, RW Jason Blake, LW Chris Simon, LW Arron Asham, C Viktor Kozlov, D Sean Hill, RW Eric Boguniecki, G Mike Dunham, D Joel Bouchard, D Tomas Malec, C Peter Ferraro.

Re-Signings: G Wade Dubielewicz (1-year contract), F Sean Bergenheim (1-year contract).

Notable Additions:

Notable Subtractions:

Off-Season Game Plan: Perhaps the biggest surprise of the 2006-2007 season, the New York Islanders earned a playoff spot on the final day of the regular season, surpassing all but the most optimistic of pre-season projections.

Philadelphia Flyers Unrestricted Free Agents: C Mike York, G Robert Esche, LW Niko Dimitrakos, LW Todd Fedoruk, RW Denis Hamel, C Mark Cullen.

Re-Signings: G Antero Niittymaki (2-year contract), D Lasse Kukkonen (2-years, $1.75 million).

Notable Additions: D Kimmo Timonen (6-years, $37.8 million), F Scott Hartnell (6-years, $25.2 million).

Notable Subtractions:

Off-Season Game Plan: While the Philadelphia Flyers endured a disastrous season in 2006-2007, there is a feeling that the team with the league's worst record isn't necessarily that far away from a return to competitiveness.

Northeast Division
Buffalo Sabres Unrestricted Free Agents: C Daniel Briere, C Chris Drury, D Teppo Numminen, RW Adam Mair, RW Michael Ryan, G Ty Conklin, C Dainius Zubrus, D Timo Helbling, D Mikko Lehtonen, G Adam Berkhoel.

Re-Signings:

Notable Additions:

Notable Subtractions:

Off-Season Game Plan: After a dominant regular season, the Buffalo Sabres' semi-final loss to the Ottawa Senators was a heartbreaking end to what had been a sensational year.

Ottawa Senators Unrestricted Free Agents: C Mike Comrie, D Tom Preissing, D Jamie Allison, C Serge Payer.

Re-Signings: LW Dean McAmmond

Notable Additions:

Notable Subtractions:

Off-Season Game Plan: A trip to the Stanley Cup final exorcised a lot of the playoff ghosts in the Ottawa Senators past, but the team isn't resting on its laurels and that could mean a busy summer.

Toronto Maple Leafs Unrestricted Free Agents: C Michael Peca, C Jeff O'Neill, C Yanic Perreault, G Jean-Sebastien Aubin, C Travis Green, LW Bates Battaglia.

Re-Signings: F Mats Sundin (1-year, $5.5 million), D Staffan Kronwall (2-year contract), F Nik Antropov (2-years, $4 million), .

Notable Additions: G Vesa Toskala (Sharks), W Mark Bell (Sharks)

Notable Subtractions:

Off-Season Game Plan: The Toronto Maple Leafs missed the playoffs in 2006-2007 and will need to get creative in the summer to make a push for the playoffs next season.

Montreal Canadiens Unrestricted Free Agents: D Janne Niinimaa, D Sheldon Souray, C Radek Bonk, LW Mike Johnson, G David Aebischer, RW Aaron Downey.

Re-Signings: F Christopher Higgins (2-years, $3.4 million), D Mike Komisarek (2-years, $3.4 million), D Pavel Valentenko (3-year contract).

Notable Additions: D Jassen Cullimore (Blackhawks), F Tony Salmelainen (Blackhawks).

Notable Subtractions: F Sergei Samsonov (Blackhawks).

Off-Season Game Plan: So close to a playoff spot, the Montreal Canadiens nevertheless came up short in 2006-2007, and the summer looks like it is going to bring plenty of activity as the Habs try to sort out their issues.

Boston Bruins Unrestricted Free Agents: D Jason York, LW Jeff Hoggan, D Nathan Dempsey, G Joey MacDonald.

Re-Signings: F Brandon Bochenski (1-year contract), D Andrew Alberts (Multi-year contract).

Notable Additions:

Notable Subtractions: LW Petr Tenkrat

Off-Season Game Plan: A lot of activity last summer didn't turn the Boston Bruins into a playoff team, but it doesn't mean there wasn't some progress.

Southeast Division
Atlanta Thrashers Unrestricted Free Agents: D Greg de Vries, F Slava Kozlov, D Andy Sutton, RW Jon Sim, D Shane Hnidy, LW J.P. Vigier, LW Eric Boulton, LW Cory Larose, D Andy Delmore, LW Pascal Dupuis, C Eric Belanger.

Re-Signings: RW Brad Larsen, D Steve McCarthy.

Notable Additions: Chris Thorburn (Penguins).

Notable Subtractions: LW Keith Tkachuk (St. Louis).

Off-Season Game Plan: The optimism generated by finally making the playoffs didn't last long as the Atlanta Thrashers were ejected quickly from the first round.

Tampa Bay Lightning Unrestricted Free Agents: D Cory Sarich, LW Ruslan Fedotenko, D Nolan Pratt, D Luke Richardson, LW Rob DiMaio, LW Eric Perrin, LW Eric Healey.

Re-Signings: D Shane O'Brien (2-years, $2 million), F Jan Hlavac (1-year contract), F Nick Tarnasky (2-year deal), F Kyle Wanvig (1-year, two-way contract), Jozef Stumpel (2 years, $4.5 million).

Notable Additions: F Chris Gratton (Panthers).

Notable Subtractions:

Off-Season Game Plan: The Tampa Bay Lightning have put their money into the Big Three up front, but it remains to be seen if that strategy is going to prove successful over the long run.

Carolina Hurricanes Unrestricted Free Agents: RW Anson Carter, D David Tanabe, RW Shane Willis, RW Jesse Boulerice, C Josef Vasicek.

Re-Signings: F Scott Walker (3-years, $7.5-million).

Notable Additions:

Notable Subtractions:

Off-Season Game Plan: One season after winning the Stanley Cup, the Carolina Hurricanes suffered through a post-championship hangover and missed the playoffs.

Florida Panthers Unrestricted Free Agents: C Jozef Stumpel, LW Martin Gelinas, G Ed Belfour, G Jean-Marc Pelletier, G Alex Auld, RW Juraj Kolnik, D Alexei Semenov.

Re-Signings: RW Nathan Horton (6 years, $24 million), D Bryan Allen (5-years, $14.5 million), G Craig Anderson (2 years, $1 million).

Notable Additions: G Tomas Vokoun (Predators)

Notable Subtractions: F Chris Gratton (Lightning).

Off-Season Game Plan: Another season of slight improvement wasn't enough to get the
